Distribution Transformer Prices and Selection in Nigeria
Transformer cost is determined by more than the kVA printed on the nameplate. Primary voltage, technical specification, protection, transport, installation and commissioning should all be confirmed before a project order is placed.
What determines a transformer price?
The catalogue price covers the transformer product only. The final project cost can change with the required capacity, 11kV or 33kV primary voltage, approved technical specification, destination, lifting requirements and commissioning scope.

- Delivery distance, handling and installation
Choose capacity from a load study
A transformer should be selected from the calculated demand, expected load growth and the network or utility requirement. A higher price does not automatically mean a better fit, and an undersized unit may run hot or provide poor service.
- 50–100kVA for smaller approved requirements
- 200–500kVA for many commercial and industrial loads
- 750kVA–1MVA for larger approved installations
- Final sizing must follow the project design
